SWIM Meet w/ Wayne State Poly Sci Professor Kevin Deegan-Krauss

Americans from all parts of the political spectrum overwhelmingly believe that wealthy campaign donors have too much influence. They want to see something done about it, but what is there to do and how would it work. Kevin Deegan-Krause welcomes Jamie Lyons-Eddy, Deputy Director of Voters Not Politicians to talk about her recent masters thesis work on the plusses and minuses of public financing of campaigns and on the potential for requiring public disclosure of campaign donations. They will deal with efforts such as Seattle’s Democracy Voucher program, Alaska’s Campaign Finance Laws Initiative and efforts in Michigan and nationwide to reduce the role of money in politics.
